Blackout Bounty: Terms & Conditions

Full Terms and Conditions of the Competition


This STORROR® Blackout Bounty Competition (the “Competition”) is subject to the following Terms and Conditions (“Conditions”) and by entering the Competition you agree to be bound by them.

The promoter is Storror Limited, 15-17 Middle Street, Brighton, BN1 1EL, UK, Company Number 08849509 (“Promoter”).

These terms and conditions are published on the Promoter’s website at

Contestants should adhere to any and all Government restrictions, regulations, or laws relating to Covid-19/coronavirus during the course of this Competition.


1.    Eligibility

1.1.        This Competition is open to individuals worldwide.

1.2.        Contestants must be over the age of 18 (or be accompanied by their parent or guardian if they are under 18).

1.3.        Employees of the Promoter or any associated company and their immediate family, or anyone else involved in the organisation of the Competition, may not enter the Competition.


2.    How to compete

2.1.        To enter the Competition contestants must:

2.1.1.  follow the official @STORROR Instagram account at

2.1.2.  upload an Instagram post with the hashtag #STORRORblackoutbounty to confirm participation in the competition.

2.1.3.  use the hashtag #STORRORblackoutbounty in any social media posts uploaded while competing in the Competition which relate to the Competition.

2.1.4.  The competition will begin at 17:00 BST on the 12th October 2020 (“Start Time”).


3.    How to win

3.1.        Contestants must find all seven members of the STORROR team together, in the same location, at the same time.

3.2.        Contestants must then record a video clip that includes all seven members of the team together, with the Contestant heard saying the words “STORROR BLACKOUT BOUNTY” and stating their own name (“Video Clip”).

3.3.        The Video Clip must be filmed at a safe distance from the seven team members within a 20 metre radius and no closer than two (2) metres.

3.4.        The first individual Contestant or Contestant Group to record this Video Clip wins.

3.5.        The Competition will end either:

3.5.1.  upon announcement of the winner via the official @STORROR Instagram account or YouTube channel; or,

3.5.2.  the culmination of 10 calendar days from the Start Time, being 17:00 BST on the 22nd October 2020.

3.5.3.  upon early termination any time before Clause 3.5.2, at the Promoter’s absolute discretion, to be announced via its official @STORROR Instagram account or YouTube channel.


4.    Simultaneous videos or no winner

4.1.        In the event of a tie, with Contestants or Contestant Groups arriving and filming at the same time the ultimate winner and how they are chosen will be decided by the Promoter at the time and at their complete discretion.

4.2.        The options available to the Promoter include, but are not limited to:

4.2.1.  splitting the prize money between the contestants or groups; or

4.2.2.  setting a tie-breaker competition.

4.3.        In the event that the Competition ends in accordance with Clauses 3.5.2 or 3.5.3, and no winner has been announced, it will be up to the absolute discretion of the Promoter to decide what to do with the prize.


5.    Prize

5.1.        The winner will receive the prize of £10,000 or currency equivalent (paid in full by electronic bank transfer to the Winner’s nominated bank account) (“Prize”).

5.2.        The Prize is non-transferable and non-refundable and the Winner cannot request any alternative prize.

5.3.        The Prize will be paid to the winner within 14 calendar days of the Competition ending under Clause 3.5.1, subject to eligibility checks by the Promoter.


6.    Contestant Groups

6.1.        The Competition can be won either by one individual completing the steps in Clause 3, or by a group of contestants working together (“Contestant Group”).

6.2.        Contestant Groups cannot be made up of more than 6 individuals.

6.3.        Contestant Groups must make it clear they are working in a team by:

6.3.1.  -1- accompanying any social media uploads that have the hashtag from Clause 2.1.3 with a hashtag of their team name hashtag, with the exception of the Contestant’s initial upload under Clause 2.1.2.

6.3.2.  -2- saying the name of their team alongside saying the words in Clause 3.2 while filming the Video Clip. (“Contestant Group Video Clip”)

6.4.        Only one (1) member of a Contestant Group needs to film the Contestant Group Video Clip in accordance with Clause 3 for the whole team to win.

6.5.        If the Promoter decides a Contestant Group has won the Prize, the Promoter will then pay the Prize in full to only one (1) of the Contestant Group’s members.

6.5.1.  the distribution of the Prize to other group members will be at the Contestant Group’s own discretion.

6.6.        Hereafter reference to Video Clip refers to both the definition in Clause 3.2 and the Contestant Group Video Clip definition in Clause 6.3.2.


7.    Winner publicity

7.1.        The Promoter reserves the right to publish the winning Contestant’s or Contestant Group’s name(s) and Video Clip on the Promoter’s official social media accounts, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and on its YouTube channel and its website found at

7.2.        By entering the Competition you agree to your Video Clip being published in accordance with Clause 7.1 and to take part in and co-operate fully with all reasonable publicity accompanying or resulting from this Competition without further reward or compensation.


8.    Video Clip and upload conditions

8.1.        Any Video Clip or social media upload that is made in relation to the Competition that is deemed by the Promoter, in its sole discretion, to be unlawful, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, hateful, threatening, discriminatory, offensive or which may otherwise bring the Competition or the Promoter into disrepute will be excluded, and will exclude the Contestant or Contestant Group which uploaded or filmed it from the Competition without any requirement for explanation.

8.2.        The Promoter reserves the right to take any further action in respect of any such Video Clip or upload that it deems appropriate.

8.3.        The Promoter will fully co-operate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requesting or directing the Promoter to disclose the identity of or to locate anyone posting or linking any content to its Twitter or Instagram or Facebook or YouTube pages which infringes any third party rights or is in breach of any of these Terms and Conditions or any applicable law.


9.      Use and display of Video Clip and copyright

9.1.            Contestants will retain copyright in the Video Clip they submit.

9.2.            Contestants must not have infringed the rights of any other party or breached any laws when filming their Video Clips. If a Video Clip contains reference to or images of a person, the consent of that person (or their parent or guardian if they are under 18) must have been obtained;

9.2.1.      this requirement is with the exception that no permission needs to be obtained from the seven members of STORROR.

9.3.            By submitting a Video Clip:

9.3.1.      you license and grant the Promoter, its affiliates and sub-licensees an exclusive, royalty free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable and sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish and display the Video Clip for any purpose in any media including, but not limited to the Promoter’s website, social media accounts, marketing materials, newsletters and promotional material without further compensation, restriction on use, attribution or liability;

9.3.2.      you waive any moral rights or similar rights in respect of your Video Clip to which you may be entitled (at the time of submission or in the future) under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended time to time or under any similar applicable laws in force from time to time in force anywhere in the world;

9.3.3.      you acknowledge that third parties will have access to and will be able to republish your Video Clip in accordance with the terms of use of the social media platform through which your Video Clip is submitted.


10. Liability and indemnity

10.1.          To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Promoter excludes its liability for any loss, damage, injury, cost or expense suffered by any Contestant, Contestant Team or third party, whether directly or indirectly and howsoever caused, in connection with the Competition or use of the Prize.

10.2.          Nothing in these Conditions shall exclude the Promoter’s liability for death or personal injury caused solely by the negligence of the Promoter, or any other liability that cannot, as a matter of law, be excluded.

10.3.          Neither the Promoter, nor its agents or representatives assume responsibility for:

10.3.1.    any system failures or malfunctions of any third-party websites;

10.3.2.      any incomplete, lost, delayed or late Video Clips;

10.3.3.      any failure to fulfil obligations of any third parties involved in this Competition;

10.3.4.      any fault, malfunction, damage, loss or disappointment suffered by the participants in the Competition howsoever arising from participating in the Competition;

10.3.5.      communications line failure, regardless of cause, with regard to any equipment, systems, networks, lines, satellites, servers, computers or providers utilized in any aspect of this Competition;

10.3.6.      the actions of any Contestant or Contestant Group during the Competition which give rise to any claim by a third party, including but not limited to: trespass, burglary, nuisance to land or fauna or flora.

10.3.7.      any other matter outside of the Promoter’s reasonable control.

10.4.            Contestants acknowledge and accept that they choose to compete at their own risks.

10.5.            Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your statutory rights.

10.6.            To the extent permitted by law, all conditions, warranties and other terms which might otherwise be implied by statute or common law are expressly excluded from these Terms and Conditions.

10.7.            The Winners agree to indemnify and keep indemnified the Promoter from and against all liabilities, losses, damages, legal and professional expenses, including but not limited to any claim of infringement of intellectual property rights made by any third party, arising out of or in connection with any allegations or claims resulting directly or indirectly from:

10.7.1.      their Video Clip in this Competition; and/or

10.7.2.      their receipt and use of any Prize.


11.  General

11.1.          Without prejudice to Clause 3.5 the Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition or these Conditions if it has reasonable grounds for doing so at any time.

11.1.1.    Reasonable grounds can include, but are not limited to:  any changes in government rules and restrictions regarding coronavirus or other pandemic.

11.2.          Any changes to the Competition or these Conditions will be announced by the Promoter through any of its social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube channel.

11.3.          Contestants who film a Video Clip in connection with this Competition accept:

11.3.1.    these Conditions as in force at the time of filming;

11.3.2.    that the Promoter may require proof they are eligible to enter;

11.3.3.    the use of their personal data by the Promoter:  for the purpose of administration of the Competition (including publishing the names of the Winners and any administration relating to the Prize); and  any other purpose for which they have consented.

11.4.          The use of any personal data by the Promoter shall be in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy which can be found on the Promoter’s website at

11.5.          Without prejudice to Clause 8.1, the Promoter reserves the right to exclude any Video Clip from the Competition if it deems it to be ineligible or otherwise invalid and the Promoter shall have complete discretion in this respect.

11.6.          If any provision of these Conditions (or part of any provision) is found by any court or other competent authority to be invalid, unenforceable or illegal, the other provisions shall remain in force.

11.7.          If any invalid, unenforceable or illegal provision would be valid, enforceable and legal if some part of it were deleted, the provision shall apply with whatever modification is necessary to give effect to the commercial intention of the Promoter.

11.8.          No failure or delay by a party to exercise any right or remedy provided under these Terms and Conditions or by law or any abandonment of any such right or remedy shall constitute a waiver of that or any other right or remedy, nor shall it preclude or restrict the further exercise of that or any other right or remedy.

11.9.          No single or partial exercise of such right or remedy shall preclude or restrict the further exercise of that or any other right or remedy.

11.10.      The Competition, these Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim which may arise out of or in connection with the Competition or these Conditions.
